Healthcare Insurance

My practice is fee-for-service.  My licensure, training, and education will allow you to be qualified for out-of-network reimbursement with your insurance plan if this is part of your policy. You are encouraged to check with your insurance plan to see if “out-of-network” mental health benefits are available. If that is the case and you chose to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, I will provide you with a detailed invoice at the end of each month for you to submit.

I’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
  • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

What are the benefits of Out-of-Network or private pay?

Being out-of-network or choosing to pay privately (without insurance) helps to ensure your utmost confidentiality and privacy when working together. I do not need to release your records to any third party without your consent. Also, when using your insurance, I must diagnose you with a mental health condition that will become part of your medical record. If you choose to pay privately or pursue out of network benefits, information about the nature of your treatment and the issues discussed in sessions will remain solely between you and I. Thus, it is important to consider which option you prefer and are most comfortable with prior to beginning treatment.

Medical expenses such as out-of-pocket costs for psychotherapy may often be deducted on your income taxes. You should speak with an accounting professional to determine whether you would be eligible for such a deduction.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.
